Background
The capstone project is the culmination of SaskPolytech's Graphic Communications program and is an opportunity to demonstrate all the skills we acquired in the program. For my project I created a brand of healthy and affordable dog treats called Flatland Pet Co.
Challenge
The hardest part of this project was managing a multi-month project with a number of deliverables. It was super important to start with a detailed and thoughtful planning process to establish a project plan and timeline that I could use to keep myself on track.
Process
There were a lot of parts to the capstone project: initial concept, project planning, branding (naming, brand identity, logo, style guide), brand collateral, and a final presentation for students and faculty. Doing a lot of research and exploration at the outset of the project and developing a solid creative brief really helped me shape the Flatland brand and gave me a solid foundation to work from.
Results
The capstone project was a lot of work but I'm happy with how it turned out. I really like the brand identity and I think the packaging design is very strong. It was a really good experience to go through the whole brand creation process: from initial concepts to presenting it to an audience.
